October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 17, 2014 | Domestic Violence

Since 1987, Domestic Violence Awareness Month has been observed in October. Evolving from the Day of Unity from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the intent is to connect advocates who are working to end domestic violence.

With media coverage of celebrities such as Ray Rice and Greg Hardy, domestic violence issues are receiving a lot of attention this year.

This October, let us honor National Domestic Violence Awareness Month by promoting peace in our own families, homes, and communities. Let us renew our commitment to end domestic violence in every city, every town, and every corner of America. Remember to wear purple to show your support!
